Troubleshooting Pressure Sensitive Tape Application Problems |
A. When tape is applied too tight on the carton, the film will stretch causing the adhesive to give away on the overlap (see figure 1). |
B. To eliminate this problem, loosen the spring tension reducing the drag on the friction brake of the tape hub assembly (see figure 2). To do this, turn tape hub tension adjustment knob counter-clockwise to decrease tension and reduce drag (see figure 2).
|
C. It may also require the pressure be decreased on tape application wipe down rollers. To do this, loosen the lock nuts on the spring tension adjusting rod. Increase the length of the adjusting rod, thus reducing the tension on the spring (see figure 3). |
D. If the previous techniques don t solve the problem, it will be necessary to check each roller the tape comes in contact with to ensure they roll freely (see figure 4). |
E. If tape tension is still too tight, check to see if the tape roll is centered properly on dispenser. To do this, check the tape centering left to right on each of the rollers it makes contact with (see figure 4) |
F. If the tape is not centered properly, the entire tape hub will need to be moved. To do this, loosen the hub lock discs (figure 5) with the special tool (figure 6), supplied in the machine tool box. Once the discs are loose, the hub can be moved from left to right on the threaded axle shaft. After the hub is centered, tighten the lock discs back in place. |
